Datasets
Explore your dataset
Answer questions about a prepared dataset without changing its rows. Explore brings metrics, trends, period comparisons and matching records into one view.
Start with a dataset saved to DataQloo Storage. Open it from Datasets and select Explore. If a profile is required, use Profile dataset and wait for it to complete.
Calculate a metric
- Under Metric, choose Count rows, Sum, Average, Minimum or Maximum.
- For a numeric metric, select the Measure column.
- Choose a column under Break down by to compare segments, such as region, product or status.
- Select Run analysis.
For example, choose Sum, use revenue as the measure and break down by region. The result shows the total and a segment breakdown from the saved dataset version.
Explore a trend or compare periods
Choose a Date column, set the inclusive start and end dates, and select Day, Week or Month under Time buckets.
Enable Compare with the immediately preceding period of equal length to see current and previous values, absolute change and relative change. The trend chart includes an expandable table of exact bucket values.
Date ranges and buckets use UTC; weeks begin on Monday. A date range includes the whole end day. Rows with missing dates are excluded from the selected date range.
For count or sum comparisons with a breakdown, Contributors to the change ranks the segments by their arithmetic contribution to the difference. Use those segments to choose which records to inspect next.
Narrow the analysis
Select Add filter to choose a column and an Equals, Is missing or Is not missing condition. You can combine up to five filters, and all conditions must match.
After changing settings, select Run analysis again. This refreshes the metric, trend and breakdown together.
Inspect and export the result
Use Inspect rows to examine records matching the analysis. Select Inspect beside a segment to examine that segment with the same filters applied. The row viewer provides page controls for the matching records.
Select Export CSV to download the analysis results. The result also shows the dataset version and profile timestamps so you can identify the data used.
Save an analysis for your workspace
After a successful analysis, select Save analysis, enter a descriptive name and save it. The definition appears under Saved analyses, where people with access to the dataset can reopen it.
A saved analysis keeps the metric, filters and comparison settings. Open it and run it to calculate results against the current saved dataset version. Workspace members with edit access can save and delete these definitions.
Use dataset History to compare the profiles of two saved versions.
